Centrally-positioned three hands is the most basic layout
in watch industry. While all manufacturers are making this type of design,
it is detailed-oriented craftsmanship and quality of parts that set them apart.
Roman numeral hours. The number 4 is IIII instead of IV. This
is based on “symmetrical numeric design”, that is to say, I V X appear 4
consecutive times (I II III IIII, V VI VII VIII, IX X XI XII).
The minute marker is characterized by 12 metallic
balls, each at 5-minute interval, with corresponding printed numbers 05, 10, 15…..50,
55, 60. Printed dots correspond printed lines between 5-minute intervals.
This multiple layers of hour and minute markers combination,
plus complicated decorative pattern on the front dial, result in visual illusion
of a larger watch than its actual size of 40.5mm in diameter.
Individually-made hour & minute hands with curved
surface vs. cheaper watches’ mass produced hands with flat surface. At 6 o’clock
is the date window.
On the case back there is shark image representing
