The Caliber 4801 chronograph movement’s vertical-clutch column-wheel structure is regarded as an advanced mechanism in the watchmaking industry. The vertical clutch structure consists of two coaxial wheels that come into contact, effectively reducing instability when separating and reuniting the two wheels in a horizontal clutch. This solution addresses the issues of advance and delay of the chronograph hand, while also prolonging the service life.

The upper right button is pressed to start/stop the chronograph function. The lower right button is pressed to reset after the chronograph function has been stopped. Both upper-right and lower-right buttons are installed with a screw-on mechanism to prevent them from being pressed when screwed on. In the middle is the screw-on crown, which is pulled out with a single click to adjust the time. The movement features a hacking function to stop the seconds while adjusting the time.

As we all know, the Dandong 4130 chronograph automatic movement is used in high-end homage watches. This watch utilizes the Dandong 4801, an upgraded version of the 4130. These two movements are essentially the same except for the self-winding mechanism, of which the 4130 is double-directional winding, but the 4801 is single-directional winding. From now on, Dandong Watch Factory will only make the 4801. The old 4130 is phased out.

This 4801 automatic runs stably at a high vibration of 28800 per hour. The subdial at 3 o’clock counts minutes, with a maximum of 30 minutes. The subdial at 6 o’clock counts seconds per minute. The subdial at 9 o’clock indicates hours, with a maximum of 12. A central long second hand sweeps across the dial to count seconds.
