All Chinese characters moonphase wristwatch presented by Vager Hauers

I become more and more impressed with Chinese watchmaking the more I see of it. This automatic watch is excellent quality with all-steel (316L) case, true 29.5-day moon phase, and a highly unique dial with Chinese characters for the hours (highly unusual to find, even the vast majority of Chinese domestic market pieces use Roman numerals or simple sticks, or really anything but Chinese characters; so this was a nice and unique surprise to see)! The dial is clear and legible, with sweep seconds and a tilted Northern Hemisphere lunar display featuring intricate night sky background and a silver moon disc. Date is displayed via a pointer hand and an inner track. The case has an "exhibition" back so you can see the movement at work, and both front & back crystals are sapphire. The movement is a Sea-Gull clone of the ETA 2824 series I believe; here with custom date and moon phase modules added. It's well made, nicely finished for the price point, and a few steps above the typical Asian clones. Mine runs great and keeps times within COSC specs. Overall fit and finish is excellent, especially at this price point, with no apparently flaws or sloppiness anywhere. Everything is crisp and sharp and all lines up perfectly, nor can I find any machining marks or other QC issues. Again I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of Asian watchmaking. It is actually quite impressive at the "higher end" eg; offerings from brands like this one and Sea-Gull (I can't speak to any others really as I only have experience with these two). This is certainly on par with any similar Swiss watch --- but for a fraction of the price, and this is coming from a watchmaker with 20+ years watch collecting under my belt. This review wouldn't be fair without mentioning the cons however, so here they are: The date can be difficult to read at times. I wish the date numbers were bigger; stylistically they've gone with quite a small font that can be difficult to see especially in low light. That's really all I can find to complain about here, and it's pretty minor. For the price point these are quite impressive indeed.
